  • Is this the correct course for me?

    Are you the person in charge or part of the management team of a food premises? (Note that food premises include any premises where food is handled, including food factories, supermarkets, school tuck shops, commercial kitchens, restaurants, b&b's, mobile food trucks, etc.) If you answered "Yes" to above question, then this training course is for you! It is a legal requirement in South Africa that the person in charge of a food premises must be qualified or trained in food safety and hygiene.

  • Does this course satisfy the requirements of Regulation 638 10(1)a?

    Yes. R638 10.1(a) states that the person in charge of a food premises must be suitably qualified or trained in food safety and hygiene. This training must be ACCREDITED or conducted by an inspector. This training course is accredited with the Southern African Auditor and Training Certification Authority (SAATCA) and fulfils the requirements of R638. You may verify our accreditation by visiting www.saatca.co.za.

  • Do I need to complete the entire course in one sitting?

    No, the course player will save your progress. You can complete the course at your leisure.

  • Does my training link expire?

    No, you may start the course whenever it suits your schedule and complete it at your own pace.

  • Do I receive a certificate as proof that I completed this training?

    Yes, once you have completed the course, and passed the examination, you shall receive a verified Certificate of Completion via email. You may attach this certificate to your COA application form as proof that you completed the required food safety training.

  • What is the pass mark for the examination?

    You need to achieve 70% to pass the exam. You get one chance to do a rewrite. If you don't pass the rewrite you have to redo the entire course, incurring an admin fee of R200.

  • How long will it take to receive my certificate after passing?

    Depending on your result, your certificate will be issued within two to five working days after submission of your exam.
